Fun Things To Do In The Western Cape This April

The Stellenbosch Wine Harvest Parade is back!

The famous Stellenbosch Wine Harvest Parade is to return to the streets of South Africa’s Wine Capital! After a two-year hiatus, this wine-inspired spectacle is guaranteed to be back with a memorable bang when it takes place on Saturday, 9 April.

Halted only briefly by the pandemic regulations, the beloved procession sees farmers, workers and wine-lovers mount colourful floats and paint the town red to herald the end of another fruitful wine grape season.  And you’re invited! Bring friends and family and join in the human train through the historic streets.

The parade gets underway at 09:00, leaving from the famous Toy and Miniature Museum, and weaves its way beneath the oaks before arriving some 30 minutes later at the Stellenbosch Town Hall. After a short thanksgiving ceremony, the parade will continue its way, sharing the joy of the year’s harvest as it goes. At its conclusion, participants will be treated to a braai, live music, and refreshments, with special entertainment laid on for the kiddies too.
Family time at Nederburg this Easter!

There will be picnics, an Easter bunny, egg hunts and lawn games for adults and kids, a jumping castle and jungle gym (for the little ones), live music, as well as fine wines and delicious food served fresh from The Manor’s kitchen.

Egg hunts are scheduled for the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the long-weekend, at 10:00 for kids (R30 fee, including an Easter treat, and one winner receiving a chocolate hamper), and at 11:00 for adults (R50 fee, including a glass of bubbly). Participating adults stand the chance to win a variety of Nederburg wines, picnic as well as tasting vouchers and in the case of children, an array of tasty treats. Nederburg’s Easter bunny will be there to surprise and delight the little ones and pose with them for pictures.

If chilling on the lawn is more your style, opt for a picnic. Offered at R540, Nederburg’s awesome picnic basket serves two adults. It features all your picnic needs, kids’ picnic baskets are also on offer, at R120 per head.
