KWV has once again proven why it remains one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine and brandy producers after dominating the Platter’s 2026 South African Wine Guide. With major wins across both wine and brandy categories, KWV continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the South African wine industry.
The standout achievement came from The Mentors Petit Verdot 2022, which was named Petit Verdot Wine of the Year. The KWV Mentors range also earned five star ratings for The Mentors Grenache Blanc 2023 and The Mentors Pinotage 2022, confirming its status as one of the most awarded premium wine ranges in South Africa.

KWV also made a major impact in the South African brandy awards, claiming more than half of the five star honours. Top award winners included KWV Centenary, KWV Nexus, 15 Year Old Alambic, 12 Year Old Barrel Select, 10 Year Old Vintage, Cellar Reserve XO Potstill and Signature Release VS.
Senior winemaker Izele van Blerk credited the success to strong teamwork and years of refining vineyard and cellar processes. She highlighted that consistency in winemaking and collaboration across the entire KWV team have been key to the brand’s continued excellence.

This recognition comes shortly after KWV was named Best Wine Producer at the Veritas Awards for the third consecutive year, further reinforcing its dominance within the South African wine and brandy industry.
With global recognition growing and continued performance at top competitions, KWV remains a powerful force in shaping the future of South African wine.
