Roodeberg Kicks Off Rugby Season with Match-Day Meals

It’s rugby season in South Africa, the braais are lit, the gees is flowing, and the Springboks are back on the field. And what’s in our glasses while we cheer them on? None other than Roodeberg, the legendary red blend that once traded hands for rugby tickets and today still unites friends, family, and fans around the table.

To celebrate the season, KWV has launched the Roodeberg Legacy Box (Edition 10), a curated selection of wines paired with flame-grilled recipes from award-winning cookbook author Elmarie Berry. Think bold reds, smoky coals, and recipes built for rugby weekends. It’s all about keeping one eye on the braai, one eye on the game, and a glass of Roodeberg in hand.

Exclusively available to KWV Wine Club members for just R950 (worth R1 791). Or, stock up on Roodeberg for R120 at www.kwv.co.za and selected liquor stores nationwide.

Match-Day Meals to Pair with Roodeberg

🇿🇦 SA vs Italy – 12 July
Fire-Toasted Pizza Jaffle with Salami
Italy came hungry, but the Boks shut them down. We celebrated with gooey, fire-toasted pizza jaffles stuffed with salami — the ultimate victory snack with a glass of Roodeberg.

🇿🇦 SA vs Australia – 16 & 23 August
Aussie Burger
The Wallabies bring the heat, but we return the favour with Aussie-style burgers stacked with bacon, pineapple, and beetroot. Fire on the coals, fire on the field, and Roodeberg to wash it down.

🇿🇦 SA vs New Zealand – 6 & 13 September 2025
Crispy Lamb Chops on Fries with Aioli
Bokke vs All Blacks — the rivalry writes itself. This time, we’re serving crispy lamb chops over golden fries with aioli. Charred, proud, and South African to the bone. (Because salads don’t win scrums.)

🇿🇦 SA vs Argentina – 27 Sept & 4 Oct
Picanha Steak with Chimichurri
Los Pumas bring grit, but we bring fire. Coal-grilled picanha steak topped with chimichurri proves once again: South Africa does beef better — especially with a bold pour of Roodeberg.

🇿🇦 SA vs France – 8 November 2025
Coq au Vin, South African Style
After that iconic Paris quarter-final, the French will be looking for revenge. But we’re roasting the roosters again — with a rich Coq au Vin in red wine butter, plus dauphinoise potatoes bubbling in a potjie. French name, South African soul.

Game Day, The South African Way

From the braai to the couch to the stands, one thing is certain: Game Day is better with Roodeberg. So, gather your people, stoke the coals, and raise a glass to the Bokke.
