Sometimes the best escape isn’t about travelling far, it’s about finding a place that encourages you to slow down, switch off and simply enjoy the moment. That’s exactly what you’ll find at Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate, where its beautifully restored 1773 Homestead has officially opened its doors to day visitors for the first time.
Previously reserved for overnight guests, this historic Cape Dutch homestead has been lovingly restored into one of the Cape Winelands’ most elegant destinations. Think crackling fireplaces, timeless architecture, exceptional food and wine, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer.

A Farm Tea Experience Worth Booking
The Farm Tea Experience is far more than your traditional afternoon tea. Inspired by South Africa’s rich culinary heritage, it blends Cape Malay, Khoisan, Dutch, German and British influences into a beautifully curated menu celebrating local ingredients and timeless flavours.
Whether you’re catching up with friends or celebrating a special occasion, it’s an experience designed to be enjoyed slowly.

Seafood and Bubbles Done Right
For something a little more indulgent, the Merroir Experience showcases fresh oysters, sustainably produced caviar, West Coast prawns and creative seafood dishes, all perfectly paired with Vergenoegd Löw’s own maritime-inspired Cap Classique. Guests can even upgrade the experience with French Champagne for an extra touch of luxury.

Breakfast and Cosy Winter Dining
The Homestead also serves delicious farm-to-table breakfasts made with fresh seasonal produce grown on the estate and sourced from local farmers.
Visiting this winter? Until the end of August, guests can enjoy specially curated two and three course chef’s menus in the warmth of the beautifully restored Homestead, complete with roaring fireplaces and comforting seasonal dishes.

A New Winelands Escape
Whether you’re planning a romantic date, a girls’ day out or simply looking for a peaceful escape, the restored 1773 Homestead offers a refreshingly different way to experience the Cape Winelands. From elegant afternoon tea and luxurious seafood pairings to leisurely breakfasts and cosy winter dining, every visit is designed to remind you that life’s best moments are meant to be savoured.
