Mount Grace Hotel & Spa Review

After many days of being stuck indoors and due to lockdown, I finally managed to get some time to go away for a few days and enjoy the great outdoors to celebrate my friends birthday. The Mount Hotel and Spa was the destination of choice and I must say it was a pretty damn good choice (well done Sbu). From the moment we arrived the staff was friendly, attentive, always available at every call, all while following Covid-19 protocols and keeping us safe (shout out to Gift for taking great care of us).

Once we were all checked in, we were escorted to our rooms, where we were booked into the Executive Suite and Luxury rooms which had the best mountain views, making the sunrise extra special each morning. Our rooms were spacious, clean and the beds were super comfortable. One thing though that does need a bit of a attention and change is the rooms look and feel, a few things here and there like the carpets could do with an update and some of the furnishings could do with some modernisation but all in all they are still pretty spectacular.  The executive suite had r a large bathtub and separate shower, with its own private pool deck and balcony overlooking nature reserve.

In the morning if you take  a walk around the premises you will most likely bump into monkeys while taking in all the views which is pretty awesome. When it comes to the food I must say I found it to be a little bit average but I guess with all the covid-19 restrictions there’s not much that can be done. I also think the wait in the long lines at the buffet due to social distancing end up making one less excited for their meals which I think is what added to the food experience not being super awesome as I know it to be from previous visits.

Mount Grace is an absolutely beautiful place and perfect for a weekend getaway. The rooms are slightly pricey so make sure you save for this one, you can look at spending anything from R1900-R5000 a night. Situated in the beautiful Magaliesburg you can expect tranquility at it’s best. The best part is it’s only 40 minutes outside of Johannesburg.
