If you are ever looking for an affordable place where you can relax, indulge and explore, then Monks Cowl Golf Resort is that perfect place in the Drakensberg Mountains. Having spent two days here I am happy to say it was a great and much needed time away from the Johannesburg city life. The resort offers a bevy of adventures while giving you a spectacular backdrop of the Drakensberg. Onsite you have access to two rock pools, putt putt, a tennis court and a 9 hole, 18 tee golf course with the most scenic views.
When it comes to the rooms all I can say is you an expect lots and lots of space. The rooms are clean, fresh and embody a lovely family style, spirit and warmth. Each room has two double beds, DStv, an en-suite bathroom, a mini fridge and you can choose between fairway or lake views.
For the foodies you can enjoy a hearty dinner at the Friar Tuck Restaurant & Pub, the menu is pretty substantial and the food is decent. I particularly enjoyed the bar atmosphere, everyone was super friendly and it was a great jol. For those of you wondering Monks Cowl Golf Resort is just 4 hours away from Johannesburg making it a perfect destination for a weekend away. You can look at spending R545 a night which is a super bargain if you ask me. A perfect getaway for a group of friends or family. If you are looking for more adventures while there, you can find horse riding, paintball, trout fishing, river rafting, quad biking and bowling greens as well as a bird of prey display centre just a few kilometres outside the resort.
