Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel

Ever wondered what it’s like to spend a night in the richest square mile in Africa?

Well lucky for me I was gifted a complimentary stay at the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel in Sandton to explore South Africa’s most important business, entertainment and financial district and this how it went:

Check In:  I arrived a bit early but luckily my room was ready, not that I would have minded chilling in the stunning lobby area while enjoying the complimentary wifi. The check in process was a breeze the staff are sharp, friendly and on the ball.

The Hotel: The hotel sits right across the road from the Gautrain Station and a mere 1 minute walk away from Sandton City. From the rooftop area you get a great view of Sandton and on sunny days (cold season has officially hit JHB)  you can enjoy cocktails and lunch by the pool deck while taking in those beautiful city views. When it comes to design I found the hotel to be very fascinating, a great mix of opulence meets understated South African tradition. For those of you who are lazy to walk like me lol, I loved that the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service within a 5-kilometer radius, this came in very handy.

The Room: I was booked into the Business Class room which was on the 8th floor so I had great view of the city from up there. The room itself was highly functional, pretty spacious, clean and offers those much appreciated comforts like, a high definition TV (hello Netflix & Chill),  complimentary Nespresso and Vivreau water.  The bathroom is also super spacious with a shower and bathtub. For those of you that need to get some work done, the business class rooms give you access to a private Business Class Lounge.

The Food: For breakfast the hotel offers an extensive buffet to fit all tastes, with a big focus on organic ingredients. During my stay breakfast was served outside by the pool area for Mothers Day which was lovely and lucky for us the sun decided to make a much welcomed appearance.  For lunch I kept it simple and tried out their Chicken Burger (my go to meal) the chicken breast was juicy and full of enjoyable exotic flavours. For dinner a few of my friends joined me and everything we ordered from the pasta to the steaks was world class in quality and taste. I must say whoever the Chef was during my entire stay deserves a raise, I have never stayed at a hotel and actually enjoyed every meal I tried, WOW. Kudos Radisson, that bacon pasta completely won me and everyone at the table over, so much so that everyone even ordered additional take-aways lol!!  (My friends and I are going back for lunch this weekend we enjoyed it so much)

Check Out: Once again, a super efficient process. Friendly faces and a complimentary parking voucher. The hotel staff here are some of the happiest I have ever come across in the hotel industry, this makes everything so much stress free and amazing.

Would I Stay Here Again & Should You? Yes & Yes, Radisson Hotels are always in the best locations and give you great access to world class amenities. The Gautrain Hotel is also super family friendly making it perfect for those family holidays, there’s entertainment for everyone (bumped into quite a few families during my stay, lots of Moms being spoilt for Mother’s Day).  It’s affordable and the perfect mix of luxury and comfort. If you book a stay here soon make sure to ask for Joseph & Evah they are super funny and make you feel right at home. Thank you Radisson Team for taking such amazing care of us.  I will be back soon, (this weekend for lunch to be exact lol)!

WIN: Radisson Blu is currently running a fun Instagram competition where you could win a 100€ e-voucher towards your next stay! All you have to do is just follow Radisson on Instagram and upload your photos from your previous stay at any one of the Radisson Blu properties, and include the hashtag: #RadissonBlu. Every week, the photo that best captures the Blu passion for travel and design will be chosen to be featured on the Radisson social media channels. Good Luck!!
