First things first, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL. Hope your year is already off to an amazing start!
As some of you might have noticed by now I have been travelling quite a bit the past couple of weeks/days and haven’t had much time to update the blog 🙁 . Good news though, I am back now and hopefully this new year will bring a long many many more blog posts with it.
For me the new year started off on a wonderful note as I got to spend some time exploring Egypt with friends, starting our holiday off at the beautiful Harmony Makadi Bay Hotel & Resort near Hurghada Egypt. At first glance when you arrive the resort doesn’t exactly scream 5 star as it states on the official website but from the minute you actually walk inside that’s when you realise you are indeed at a world class 5 star destination. Once inside the resort you are met by friendly faces and helpful hands that get you settled in, then escort you to your stunning, luxurious and spacious rooms that overlook a private white sandy beach with spectacular views of the Red Sea.
The rooms are sophisticated, contemporary and come with the usual tech amenities, shower and decadent beds. You can always expect a clean and very well maintained room and balcony area during your stay. Most of the rooms are beach and garden facing so you will always wake up to beautiful views of the Red Sea as well as the stunning surrounding palm tree garden grounds and pools.
The resort also offers a variety of entertainment on and off the property, a Spa and Wellness centre to relax the body and mind. A pool area with 5 large pools and a mini aqua park all overlooking the Red Sea. For the beach lovers you can enjoy the awesome beach volleyball facilities as well as relaxing on the sun beds. If you are looking for other exciting adventures the resort offers, cruises to Paradise Island, horse and camel rides, snorkelling, diving and desert safaris all at an additional cost. My friends and I booked all the activities and trust me when I say they are all well worth it, great value for money and your daily meals are all inclusive on the tours. Horse riding in the desert and the sunset cruise to Paradise Island were just a few of my favourite highlights during our stay.
When it comes to the food, breakfast, lunch, supper and soft drinks are all inclusive which was something we didn’t even realise until we checked in. A very pleasant surprise indeed, turns out it was part of the resorts December holiday packages all along, this was a huge money saver for us. All meals are served buffet style and the food is of high quality with plentiful options to suite every taste. On new years eve the resort even went all out to throw a party for all guests which had some of the most amazing food designs on display and even included an all night open bar.
If you are looking to book a Egypt holiday any time soon or in future I would suggest you spend a couple of days at the beach resorts in Hurghada. All the resorts have magnificent views of the Red Sea, private beaches and amazing activities. The best part is meals and drinks are all inclusive at most of them which is a big saving when you are on holiday. When it comes to your booking it’s best to check out booking.com for the best deals and double check by giving the resort a call. For our trip we spent about R2400/$180 per person for 4 nights which is a huge bargain if you ask me for everything we received. The team at Harmony really went all out to give us a fairytale holiday.
