Things To Do In Stellenbosch In 48 Hours

Stellenbosch is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the Western Cape, it’s full of history and heritage, has loads of amazing vineyards and beautiful scenery. It’s one of the more serene destinations in South Africa with amazing mountain views and lots of hidden gems. I recently spent 48 hours exploring the local scene when it comes to food and accommodation these are my favourite finds that are well worth a visit.

Where to stay:

For my 48 hour stay, my friend and I  booked at The Vibe Studio Apartments on Dorp Street and let me just say I was completely blown away by how amazing the apartments are. They are spacious, super clean and each one comes with a high end coffee machine with Nespresso pods (I really loved this), a Samsung plasma TV and en-suite bathroom with a shower. The best part about The Vibe is they have partnered with two different restaurants on the same street for their breakfast service. So when you book, your stay includes a world class breakfast each day at The Belgian Waffle House & Delicately Different. What blew me away most though is you get all this amazing service for just R750 a night which is a major bargain if you ask me. The Vibe Studio Apartments is truly what one would call world class accommodation!! Can’t wait to be back here soon. (sorry I don’t have images of the apartment can’t seem to find where I saved them 🙁  below is the amazing breakfast we got.)

Where to eat:

When it comes to food, one is truly spoiled for choice in Stellenbosch. If you take a stroll around the city or a short drive to any of the wine and strawberry farms, you are bound to find some of the best dishes in Africa. During our stay our favourite lunch and dinner spots were, Java Bistro and the Thirsty Scarecrow. Java has delicious burgers, fish and chips and mouth watering cakes & coffees, which is why we ended up having lunch and dinner here on our first night (the waiters are also super hot lol) . It is also a great hangout spot for afternoon drinks with friends and is great value for money. Our second favourite place was the Thirsty Scarecrow where we had amazing waffles and bubbles while taking in the beautiful mountain views and famous fields of the Mooiberge Strawberry Farm. When it came to meeting locals and having a relaxing evening over cocktails and great conversations the vibey Balboa Balcony Bar was the perfect hangout spot for us during our stay. Balboa also has the most epic Nanchos – they are all kinds of delicious!

There are plenty of other amazing foodie spots in Stellenbosch but we didn’t have enough time to try them all.

Other Things To Do:

Stellenbosch has an abundance of wine farms so if you have enough time during your visit then taking a wine tour is a definite must. During my stay we ended up going wine tasting in Franschoek at the spectacular Babylonstoren but trust me when we say Spier, Waterford, Delaire Graff and Lanzerac wine estates in Stellenbosch are all well worth a visit. If you are looking to explore some of the history and heritage then visits to the Stellenbosch Village Museum and University Museum are a must. The best thing though is to rather book tours so you can get the most out of your 48 hour visit.
