Visit Babylonstoren

Looking for your next holiday location? Visit Babylonstoren today! Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, set at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley. It has a fruit and vegetable garden of beauty and diversity, unique accommodation, fine food and wine, and evokes a sense of wellbeing.

Things to do at Babylonstoren:

Explore the Garden: A fruit and vegetable garden with great botanical diversity. Daily garden tour starts at 10h00 in front of the Farm Shop. One of the experienced gardeners will be your guide on this tour, during which we encourage guests to pick, taste, smell and touch while walking through our garden. Set within 3,5 hectares (8 acres) of cultivated fruit and vegetables, the big garden at Babylonstoren is at the heart of the farm.

Eat at Babylonstoren: They have a farm-to-fork philosophy which means they like to serve food that is seasonal and that reflects a “pick, clean and serve” approach.

Housed in the old cow shed, Babel Restaurant is a wonderful mix of Cape Dutch architecture and contemporary glass walls that makes for a simple yet edgy environment in which to try the tasty yet often unconventional combinations.

At the rear of the garden, tucked away between the oak trees, our Greenhouse offers guests a wonderful refreshment station after their walk through the garden. All our food is served picnic-style in wooden crates with the preserves, jams and salads served in weck jars, while fresh bread from our wood-fired oven come wrapped in the iconic blue-and-white Babylonstoren paper.

Sleep at Babylonstoren: The farm hotel is characterised by thick whitewashed walls, elegant gables, and hearty fireplaces, emulating an authentic farm stay experience.

Drink at Babylonstoren: The wines are produced in a state-of-the-art winery and are made to showcase the soils and climate where their grapes are grown. The Tasting Room sits adjacent to the Wine Cellar, offering views of the conical Babylonstoren hill, Simonsberg and the Banghoek Mountains.

The cost of wine tasting starts at R80 p.p. for seven wines (Flagship wines can be added to your tasting at an additional cost: Chardonnay R20, Nebukadnesar R30 and Sprankel R40). An express tasting of three wines is also available at R40 p.p. Guests are seated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tram Visits: Tram goers can hop off at Babylonstoren for a wine tasting or daily cellar tour (hourly 11am – 3pm) as part of their Franschhoek Wine Tram experience. Babylonstoren forms part of the purple line, which covers 8 wine estates in the picturesque Franschhoek winelands valley.

Book your holiday today and enjoy a magical experience.
