LBV Bistro & Wine Bar

Finally back in Johannesburg and my friend suggests that we go have dinner at this cute little spot called LBV Bistro & Wine Bar in Bryanston that he found on google LOL. For a second there I was very skeptical about his choice but it turned out to be a winning choice after all! Thank you Google, I mean B :-P! First of all we almost didn’t make it because I have little to zero patience and when our Uber driver was struggling to find the restaurant I was like oh well lets go somewhere else, good thing B was there to calm me down. To be fair it was not the drivers fault just a case of bad directional signage from the restaurant. We finally ended up finding the restaurant and their saving grace for all that hassle was their amazing manager Tyler. What a great lad, he was super friendly, attentive and gave us exceptional service throughout the night.

Once seated we went straight for the drinks menu and ended up ordering… you guessed it, Gin & Tonic with slices f cucumber( you guys should try it it’s delicious). Tyler then went on to explain the menu to us which consists of some adventurous Soda breads, pastas, pork and salads. We ended up ordering two dishes the Pork Belly which was cooked to perfection a succulent moist tender pork with light crisp crackling (B was in heaven or as he says he felt like an angel had just sprinkled a rainbow on his tongue). The second dish was the Parmesan crumbed Chicken Pasta, the crumbed chicken was golden and crispy on the outside and deliciously juicy and full of flavour on the inside, it was also complimented really well by the pasta sauce. Unforgettably the pasta was slightly over cooked but it didn’t bother me too much as the flavours from the other ingredients over powered it. IMG_1163

One thing is for sure I would definitely go back here for the service and other dishes on the menu. Their is a lot more delicious dishes to try here. The restaurant decor is also very warm and welcoming and makes for a perfect date night. You can look at spending R400 for 2 including drinks which is well worth it. Tuesdays are the best days to dine here but also the busiest so if you are looking for some quiet time then try a Wednesday night.

  1. As a result of your post, I think a lot of customers will be ordering the ‘angel’s rainbow’ – it brings a whole new meaning to food tasting ‘divine’, doesn’t it?
